30CrMnSiA: Ultra-High Strength Structural Steel
30CrMnSiA is a medium-carbon quenched and tempered steel, renowned for its excellent strength and good comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature.
Chemical Composition: Strength, toughness, and hardenability are primarily enhanced by adding Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn), and Silicon (Si).
Mechanical Properties: After quenching and tempering (quenching + high-temperature tempering), its tensile strength can easily exceed 1080 MPa, and its yield strength exceeds 835 MPa.
Heat Treatment: Typically employs a "quenching + tempering" process to obtain an ideal tempered sorbite microstructure, achieving a balance between high strength and high toughness.
Weldability: Weldability is relatively poor; due to its high carbon equivalent, it is prone to cracking during welding, usually requiring strict preheating and post-weld heat treatment.
Inconel 718: Extreme Environment Nickel-Based Superalloy
Inconel 718 is the most widely used nickel-based high-temperature alloy, designed specifically for operation in extreme temperatures and corrosive environments.
Chemical Composition: Based on Nickel (Ni, 50-55%), with additions of Chromium (Cr), Iron (Fe), Niobium (Nb), Molybdenum (Mo), and other elements.
Strengthening Mechanism: Achieves precipitation hardening through a complex "solution treatment + double aging" heat treatment process.
Mechanical Properties: Maintains excellent tensile strength (up to 1240 MPa or more) and creep resistance at temperatures up to 700°C.
Corrosion Resistance: Exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance in both high-temperature oxidizing environments and corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, or seawater.
Selection Guide
Choose 30CrMnSiA:
When your application is primarily at room or medium temperatures (<300°C), the core requirement is extremely high structural strength and good toughness, and cost is a factor to consider. For example: high-strength bolts, aircraft structural components, heavy-duty gears, and shafts.
Choose Inconel 718:
When your application involves extreme environments such as high temperatures (>500°C), high pressure, or strong corrosion, Inconel 718 is the mandatory choice. For example: turbine blades, combustion chambers, rocket thrust chambers, and key components in chemical equipment.
